HOW IT WORKS

Understanding salary breakdowns

Gross salary is the amount before deductions. Take-home pay is the amount remaining after the deduction percentage entered in the calculator. The result can then be divided across the number of pay periods you select.

IMPORTANT ASSUMPTIONS

What this estimate assumes

This calculator uses the deduction percentage you provide. It does not determine actual income tax, social insurance, benefits, payroll rules or other country-specific deductions. Actual take-home pay can differ substantially.

How take-home pay is estimated

The calculator applies the deduction percentage you enter to annual gross salary. It subtracts that estimate from gross salary, then divides net annual pay by the number of pay periods to estimate each period's take-home amount. When the selected frequency is 12, the displayed amount is monthly take-home.

Example: annual gross salary of 10,000 with a hypothetical 20% deduction leaves 8,000 annually, or about 666.67 per month when divided into 12 periods.

The percentage is a user-supplied assumption, not a country-specific tax calculation. Actual payroll depends on applicable tax, social-insurance, benefit and employment rules. Use official payroll or tax guidance for your jurisdiction.
